Frequently asked questions
Questions, answered
It's natural to have questions before trying something new. Here are honest, clear answers to the things people ask most often.
Many clients find hypnotherapy genuinely helpful, though results vary from person to person. The supportive, relaxed state can make it easier to feel at ease with the changes you'd like to make. The six-session structure is designed to give the work time to unfold gently and build lasting change. Your free consultation is a good opportunity to explore whether it feels right for you.
Yes. You remain fully aware and in control throughout every session. Hypnotherapy is a calm, supportive process — similar to becoming absorbed in a good book or a pleasant daydream. You can open your eyes, speak, or end the session whenever you wish. Many clients find the experience deeply relaxing and reassuring.
No, not at all. You remain completely aware and in control at every moment. Hypnotherapy is not mind control and cannot make you do anything you don't want to do. It is a collaborative, supportive conversation in a relaxed state. You are always free to pause or stop the session whenever you choose.
Most people can experience the relaxed, focused state of hypnotherapy, though the depth varies from person to person. It's a natural ability we all have to varying degrees. If you can focus your attention and are willing to relax, you can likely benefit from the process. Your free consultation is a chance to explore this together.
Six sessions allow time for the work to unfold gently and build lasting change. Each session builds on the last, giving you space to feel comfortable, supported, and settled into the process at a natural pace. The structured program is designed to give you the best chance of noticing meaningful, lasting shifts rather than rushing the work.
Yes, the 60-minute consultation is always completely free with no obligation to continue. If you choose to move forward, individual sessions are $180 each, or the full six-session program is $1000. Sessions are paid for by cash or bank transfer. There are no hidden fees, and we can talk through all the details at your free consultation.
Both are available. Sessions are held in person at the Knoxville office on Village Drive, or live online across the state of Tennessee. Every session is live and one-to-one, regardless of format. The quality and structure of the work is identical either way, so you can choose whichever feels most comfortable for you.
Clients come for support with a wide range of areas, including anxiety, smoking, weight management, sleep, stress, confidence, phobias, habits, motivation, public speaking, exam performance, relationships, grief, pain management, sports performance, and life transitions. The work is always supportive and complementary to your medical and mental health care.
Your first session is the free 60-minute consultation — a calm, no-pressure conversation. We talk about what you'd like support with, how the six-session program works, and whether this approach feels right for you. There's no hypnosis in the first session. It's simply a chance to meet, ask questions, and decide together if this feels like the right fit.
Hypnotherapy sessions are not typically covered by health insurance, as this work is supportive and complementary rather than a medical treatment. Sessions are paid for directly by cash or bank transfer. I'm happy to discuss any questions about payment at your free consultation, and there's never any pressure.
Yes, completely. Everything we discuss in sessions is held in strict confidence. Your privacy is respected at all times, and your personal information is never shared without your consent. Creating a safe, trusting space is essential to the work, and I take that responsibility seriously.
Meditation is usually a self-directed practice of quieting the mind, while hypnotherapy is a guided, collaborative process focused on specific changes you'd like to make. Both involve relaxation, but hypnotherapy works with supportive suggestions and conversations tailored to your goals. Many people find the two complement each other well.
Talking therapies typically work through conscious conversation and reflection, while hypnotherapy works with the relaxed, focused state to support change at a deeper, more intuitive level. The two approaches can complement each other well. Hypnotherapy is always supportive and complementary to any medical or mental health care you may be receiving.
Results vary from person to person, and I never promise specific outcomes. Many clients report feeling calmer and more relaxed after their first few sessions, with deeper shifts unfolding over the course of the six-session program. Some notice changes quickly, while others find the work builds gradually. The structured pace is designed to support lasting change.
I primarily work with adults. If you're seeking support for a younger person, I'm happy to talk through the situation during a free consultation and help you explore whether this approach could be appropriate, or point you toward other options. Please feel welcome to call and discuss your needs.
I am a Mindlayers Certified Hypnotherapist, and I hold my work to professional standards. I work in a supportive, client-centred way, always complementary to medical and mental health care. I never diagnose or claim to treat, cure, or heal any condition. Your wellbeing and comfort are at the centre of everything I do.
There's nothing special you need to do. Simply come as you are, wearing comfortable clothing, and bring an open mind. It can help to think beforehand about what you'd like support with, but there's no need to prepare notes or do any research. Everything unfolds at a calm, natural pace during the session.
Still have a question? The free 60-minute consultation is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation where you can ask anything.
